The Different Classes of A Midsummer Night's Dream There are three main different groups or classes in the book A Midsummer Night's Dream. These three classes are Upper Class, Walking Class, and Fairies. Out of the three classes the most innocent group is the Walking Class. The Upper Class in A Midsummer Night's Dream is made up of; THESEUS, Duke of Athens; EGEUS, Father to Hermia; LYSANDER, in love with Hermia; DEMETRIUS, in love with Hermia; PHILO STRATE, Master of the Revels to Theseus; HIPPOLYTE, Queen of the Amazons, betrothed to Theseus; HERMIA, daughter to Egeus, in love with Lysander; HELENA, in love with Demetrius. This class is most represented by drama and politics. For example Egeus goes to Theseus and tells him that his daughter is not following the law, she does not love the man that her father wants her to marry, and he then tells him that he needs to punish his daughter.

As the duke of Athens Theseus must take care of this problem and dish out a punishment. He decides to give her three options; 1. Marry the man her father picks, 2. Become a nun, or 3. Be put to death.

The younger people of the upper class are all mixed up in love one of them loves the other and the other loves another. This mixed love is what gives the story an interesting plot. The Walking Class in the book was made up of; QUINCE, the Carpenter; SNUG, the Joiner; BOTTOM, the Weaver; FLUTE, the Bellows-mender; SNOUT, the Tinker; STARVELING, the Tailor. In this story the role of the walking class is to put together a play and perform it at the wedding. The play they plan to perform in a way ties in with the actual play. It is about to star crossed lovers and is titled Pyramus and Thisby.

Bottom plays the part of Pyramus and Flute plays Thisby. The worker in charge of the play, the director, is Quince, he and the other try the best to put up with Bottom because he is just so full of himself. At one point when they are rehearsing Bottom get turned into an asses head and is scares of other the other actors. Most people's favorite characters were the fairies; OBERON, King of the Fairies; TITANIA, Queen of the Fairies; PUCK, or ROBIN GOODFELLOW; PEAS BLOSSOM; COBWEB; MOTH; MUSTARD SEED. Some of these fairies are good and some are mischievous. For example Puck is one of the mischievous ones.

Just for fun at one of the workers practices for the play he turns one of them into an asses head, Bottom, and then cases the others off using different voices to make them thing that sprits are casing them. Other fairies try to do good but it does not always work out. For example Oberon sees that the young lovers are fighting with each other and tells up to put a position in there eyes to that the first person they see the will love. This turns in to a big mess because he has Puck do it and Puck puts it in the wrong people's eyes. The three different groups give the play a good twist and make so that there is not just one point of view that you see from for the whole story. If all of these classes were not there the story would probably be pretty dual.

This is a great story and if you have not read it yet you should do so, or you will be missing out.
