War The U.S. And Many Other Nations example essay topic

510 words
Since the end of World War II, the United States has increasingly become involved in other countries affairs. There are some countries that are okay with this, but others are not quite so thrilled. While we meant to help other nations with their problems all we have done is made ourselves a target for hate. The hate comes from many different things. It could be avoided though if we just stayed out of other countries business. During the early years of WWII the U.S. played things pretty cool.

They didn't want to get involved in the war. They supported the side that they believed was right by shipping them supplies. It didn't work though. Still the U.S. stayed away. It was a period of isolation, but that all changed with Pearl Harbor. Suddenly the U.S. awoke.

We dropped some bombs and war was done. After the war the U.S. and many other nations formed N.A.T.O. to help each other out as war allies and other issues. This allowed us to put military bases on foreign territory and be prepared to jump into other countries affairs yet again. Later, The U.S. decided it was in our best interest to preserve the government of South Vietnam. We sent many troops out to help but it was no use.

Our nation came out with a black eye while our troops withdrew with gun wounds and loss of life. Still we pushed on. We put more bases all over the world. Some bases near enemy nations caused certain groups of people to become angry and retaliate. This retaliation became known as terrorism because it wasn't war and it was meant to scare people out of living ordinary lives.

Forms of terrorism like taking hostages or blowing things up have been around forever. The Taliban crossed a line when they blew up the World Trade Center though. They did it because we were putting troops on "holy grounds" and other reasons unknown at this point in time. The attack caused us to have a "war on terrorism" in an effort to dispose of all the terrorism that may be around. This is bad though. It puts us in war which is where life is lost and the cycle starts over again.

Being involved in other countries affairs has put the U.S. in a tight spot. Just trying to help support other countries helped put us in wars. It has hurt the moral of our country and tallied up millions of lives lost due to battle. On the other side is the life of civilians that was lost while they were just minding their own business all because we put military bases in the wrong locations. If the U.S. had been able to stay out of it things could have been better. We had a choice but we decided to be involved instead.
