Windy Night And Stacey Browning example essay topic
Stacey was only just out of the driveway of the restaurant, when she realised she had left her purse in the building. She quickly walked back, unlocked the doors, and turned on the lights. She walked into the kitchens to look for her purse. While she was in there, she heard the doors open and the service bell ring.
'Sorry, we " re closed,' Stacey called, as she walked out of the kitchens. She looked around the restaurant, and no-one was there. 'They must of left,' she thought. As she was about to turn off the lights, Stacey felt a cold shiver. 'I knew I forgot something else,' Stacey mumbled as she walked over to the air-conditioning unit to turn it off, but it was already off. She stood there puzzled for a moment, then walked back to the light switch, trying to think if she had forgotten anything else.
With out warning a gust of wind blew the doors open, and circled in the centre of the restaurant. A woman appeared in the middle of the wind. She looked young, in her late twenties, dressed in a white gown which covered her whole body, except her eyes. Stacy stepped back shocked and stuttered 'W-who are y-y-you?' 'I am here to help you,' the woman said, with a strong foreign accent. 'You are worried about the dance?' she said.
' Yes, I am. ' Stacey replied. ' Well come with me,' the woman said. Stacey stiffly followed the woman out of the restaurant and down a dark lane, beside it.
At the end of the lane was a sparkling white tent. ' Come inside,' the woman said. Stacey stepped through the door, and inside were shelves full of bottles of potions. ' This will make you popular, and this will make you beautiful,' woman said, holding two bottles of potion. ' Just drink the potions before the dance, and you will instantly be popular and beautiful. But do this at your own risk, and don't say I didn't warn you!' the woman firmly said and gave the bottles to Stacey.
Suddenly the tent and woman disappeared in another gust wind. Stacey ran home and placed the bottles on her dresser ready to use the next night. ' Are you ready to go Stacey?' Mrs. Browning called from the bottom of the stairs. Stacey was actually looking forward to the dance, after visiting the strange woman. 'Yeah, just a minute mum,' Stacey called, grabbing the bottles, opening them and guzzling the contents. She quickly inspected the empty bottles and noticed a small warning tag reading 'In five hours this potion wears off and you will be three times worse than you were before.
' She threw the bottles in her bin and rushed down the stairs.'s stacey, you look beautiful,' her mother said, as the door bell rang. 'I wonder who that will be,' said Mrs. Browning. Stacey opened the door, and waiting out side was Joel Harper, a boy in Stacey's class. ' Hi, will you come to the dance with me Stacey, I just got the urge to come over here and ask you,' said Joel. Stacey looked at her mother, who gave a nod of approval. 'Sure,' Stacey said as she walked out of the door with a smile.
After a wonderful night at the dance, where Stacey was the most beautiful, popular person, Stacey arrived home and crept upstairs into her room. She turned on the light, and walked to her bed, past the mirror. She noticed something strange in her reflection, and walked back, closer to the mirror. Her reflection made her blink. Her skin was brown, hairy and very wrinkled. Her hair was a greenish-gray colour, and her teeth were hideously yellow and crooked.
Stacey sat on her bed, shocked, and remembered what the label read. The she remembered what the strange woman said. The words 'AT YOUR OWN RISK' echoed in Stacey's head. All of a sudden the phone rang. Stacey an over to it and picked it up. It was Joel.
'I hate you Stacey Browning.
