The crucible ^a EUR" by Arthur Miller The Crucible is a book that was written in response to the hunts for communists in Europe, where Joseph McCarthy, the black lists, and the House Un-American Activities The term McCarthyism was coined because of this man,'s accusations without having a basis. These witch-hunts for people of a leftist ideology were similar to the witch-hunts for alleged witches in Salem, Massachusetts that occurred hundreds of years before. The Crucible is a protest to the accusations of communism. pepe is the town priest in Salem. The town is a theocracy, where there is no separation between church and state. His daughter and another girl have fallen sick and cannot wake up. Tituba, Parris,'s slave is from Barbados and is accused of conjuring spirits and leading forbidden dancing in the woods.

She is interrogated until she admits to witchcraft, but people accuse others of witchcraft, more people are accused and more die. The afflicted girls that Tituba led in the in forest are now a jury of sorts determining who is hurting them with their specter. propel A girl named Abigail, Parris,'s niece, leads the girls. They all follow her lead. John Proctor, a man who lives outside of Salem, has had an affair with Abigail, or Abby, who is 31 her now. His wife is eventually convicted of witchcraft, but is saved servant girl. His servant was one of the girls faking, but now admits to her pretense.

After a while, Abby wins her back and John is accused of conspiring with the devil. He is sentenced to hang. Parris and the judges seek his confession to prove to the townsfolk that he is guilty. The townsfolk are revolution by people in bob back in the time of the Puritans.

While their government was a theocracy, where God was the highest power and Satan the greatest evil, witches, or ones who practiced satanic arts were the lowest of the few capitalism is our god.
