The movie To Kill a Mockingbird was made in 1962. It is based on Harper Lee's Prize winning book To Kill a Mockingbird published in 1960. The story is told through the eyes of Jean Louise, better known as Scout Finch. It is about a family living in a racially divided Alabama town. Scout's father, Atticus Finch, is a ery famous lawyer in Macomb, Alabama. Scout is a six-year-old tomboy who tells the story of life in the segregated town of Macomb.

Her brother, Jem Finch and cousin Dill Finch enjoy the summer by acting out scenes from different stories and also by chasing around their mysterious neighbor Boo Radley. Hey find that Boo Radley is mysteriously leaving gifts in the knothole of the tree by Boo's house. The children are delighted to come home with a new prize everyday. It also makes them wonder more and more about Mr. Radley. Atticus decides later on in the movie to take on a trial of Tom Robinson, a young black man who was falsely accused of raping an ignorant white woman, May ella Ewell. Although everyone in the town knows that because of Tom Robinson's skin cllr he will not receive a fair trial, Atticus is willing to give it a shot because he believes that everyone deserves a fair chance and a fair trial.

He is offering this opportunity for Tom. Scout, however gets taunted by the children because her father is "taking the case of a black man". Another problem that Atticus encounters from the trial is the fact that he is defending the black man in front of an all white jury. As the trial slowly progresses, Atticus realizes that it is going no where and Tom basically has no chance of winning this trial. Finally it is time for the jury to announce the verdict. "Guilty", was the announcement made by the all white jury that day.

Seeing the sorrow on everyone's faces, teh town slowly exits the courtroom in dismay. Later on in hte fall, the children are on their way to a Halloween play when someone comes in the woods and attacks Scout and Jem. Luckily Scout gets away and runs for help. As she is running to find her father, a mysterious figure emerges from the woods and pries Jem free from the hands of Bob Ewell. He also stabs Bob. Atticus runs out to see what has happened and scoops his son up in his arms to take him home.

Once he arrives home, he puts Jem in his bed and immediately calls the police and the doctor. While Scout tells the story of the eventful night, the doctor figures out that Jem has a broken arm and with a little rest should be fine. All of a sudden out of no where a character appears from behind the door. Without any words being spoken the whole room gets silent knowing exactly who the person is. Out from behind the door steps the hero of the night, Boo Radley himself. Everyone knows, without actually speaking that Boo Radley killed Mr. Bob Ewell out of defense.

However, nobody wants to turn the man in. It is just kept silent. Still in shock of the occurring events of that night, Scout introduces herself and her brother to Boo and talks to him for a while. SHe later walks her new friend home.
