My Writing Experience I would have to say that my writing experience began at an early age. While I was growing up I had to learn how to adapt with my parents. That might sound a little funny but my parents have a disability and that is they are hearing impaired. Growing up I learned how to sign but some things were difficult. Another way of communicating was through writing.

I feel writing is very important to me, not only communicating with my parents, but expressing my feelings as well. It is important for me to express my feelings because I'm a person that usually keeps everything to myself. I really can't remember much when I was in elementary school, but one assignment I do remember writing, was a letter to the President. I really enjoyed writing the letter to the President because I looked up to him and was anxious to hear from him. The teacher told me I would receive a letter from him or someone from the White House. Once I entered high school, I learned my writing process.

In order for me to write my best papers, I need to sit at my desk and listen to music. It is hard for me to concentrate in total silence. The reason being too many thoughts go through my head and gets me mixed up. So by turning on the radio to a low tune helps express my feelings better.

Throughout middle school I constantly avoided writing papers. My teacher usually always gave me a topic I was really never interested in. I never seem to know what to write about. I started to hate English around this time. It seemed I always had an English paper due and no free time to my self.

But once I entered high school, I had a different outlook on writing. We participated in group projects and my friends and I were all given a part to do. I really enjoyed getting involved and meeting with my friends outside of school. It made some of my writing a lot easier having everyone's opinion instead of just mine. An event that happened in my life that had both positive and negative memories was writing my research paper. Mr. Wolff my English told the class the paper had to be eight to ten pages and I sat there in shock.

I threw my hands in the air swearing all sorts of things. My teacher came over to me and said we will take it one step at a time, just relax. The following day I sat there with him and he told me to write about something that interest me. Once I have that down just let my pen go and everything will go smooth. So I picked a subject and it was on deaf people. I feel I have a good understanding as well as knowledge on this subject being that my parents have this disability.

So I began my research paper after I gathered all of my information from the books and talking to my parents. Mr. Wolff and my parents were there for me when I needed help with my paper. Before I knew it I was finished and handed my paper in. A short while after I got it back there were a lot of positive comments that made me feel good about writing. Mr. Wolff and I became very close and I still keep in touch with him to this day..
