Now, more than ever before, America is culturally diverse; because of a new wave of immigrants since the 1960's, and also with the technology phenomena. Culture through music, TV, the information-super-highway, all have given the X Generation many different tastes to choose from... eco-conscious. CFC's, smog, water poisoning, Oil spills, sexually transmitted diseases. Gen-Xers have grown up with a strong sense of responsibility for the environment and their own health... fun-seeking. No other generation can be compared to the X Generation in terms of spending money on recreation. Recreation has become a culture of its own.
Rollerblading, paint balling, jet skiing, video games, snowboarding, bungee jumping, and of course the mall... X-tre me. X-tre me sports and pastimes is a X Generation phenomena. Always looking for new thrills, the Gen-Xers have been watching as technology improved or created new equipment to go higher, faster, at lower cost. i.e. in-line skates, jet skis, snowboards... open to new technology. Generation X is familiar with technology and comfortable with the velocity and momentum at which it changes.
Gen-Xers have grown up in a quickly changing environment with the advent of technology, experiencing the first video games on early computers to the more powerful Pentium machines of today, the lower costs of cellphones and the sudden growth of the information super-highway in the last 6 years.
