Young Girls In Salem example essay topic
Crowds only bring trouble, people should learn what's right, and not be afraid to stand-alone. Abigail Williams was the leader of the pack. Everyone would follow here lead during the trial period. Citizens were questioning the girl's foolish acts, but could never get to the bottom of it. The only times that Abigail showed symptoms to the witchcraft, was when the girls were behind to back her up. It seemed that she was afraid to do it alone.
As Soren Kierkegaad quoted: "No one dares to be himself; everyone is hiding in 'togetherness'". Instead of acting single-handedly, Abigail pulled the other girls in her mess. Mary was the only one of the girls who decided to tell the truth. Even though she was forced, she still made the move to go against the girl's performance.
She knew that it was all false information, and still, the numbers won. Mary tried to show the court that they were all making up what they were telling. "The majority of the people are not so afraid of holding a wrong opinion, as they are of holding an opinion alone" (Kierkegaad). Mary demonstrated that standing up for what's right, is for the better. If it wasn't for the girl's acting that day, they all would have been prosecuted, but the girl's of Salem spoke, and they won. These young ladies by telling lies were going against the word of God.
