Your Own Decision example essay topic
In our civilization we have set a method of the way we use time. Time is a method of control to keep things from going chaotic. Take for instance: Curfew. Curfew is a conflict of underage adolescence, the law, and sometimes parents. I'm neither for nor against curfew, but I'll try to stress pro and con opinions from both sides. In reality one must step in both pairs of life's shoes to make a decision.
Theoretically speaking, all men and women are created equally. Equality comes in many forms as do methods of control. Equality ranges with age, race, sex, color, and creed. All of these are very obvious to most. These little, sometimes big, differences separate us all into our own unique character. Each one of us wants to do our own thing, especially when we reach the early stages of adulthood.
This means staying out later. When one has his or her, license, the rest of the world opens up. At this stage one must be thinking what does this have to do with equality. It's simple. Age separates the adults from the youth. When one gets his or her license, they will want more freedom.
That means staying out longer. Now curfew is 11: 00 p. m., but most want to stay out past that. There's always a party to go to, and the youth want to stay out with their friends and have a good time. Good times can lead to tragedy.
Drinking, drugs, sex, and violence make curfew a good thing. During the day most teens are at school, but at night lots of teens gets together to party. So making your stat home is good if parents want to try and keep there kids out of trouble. Most all of these bad things can occur by setting a time when they must come home On the other hand, most teens will lash out at their parents to get a later curfew. If parents want to show their kids trust and respect they will say something like: " Just come home at a reasonable time". There is a great deal of trust involved in that.
Parents want to keep their kids happy by giving them their own personal space. A teen will be happier if he doesn't feel trapped at home while his friends are having a good time. In the end, if one can trust their kids to do right there is no harm in not setting a curfew, but like I stated before, it can cause trouble. I have stated my personal opinion which is not persuade you in one direction, but to help you gather the facts so you can make your own decision.
All parents are different; so in the end it is a decision by them, but a word to the wise: " With every decision there is always a consequence, and maybe it will be good or bad". So I end now hoping that I have given you, the reader, enough insight to make your own decision. Here is a partial quote by the great Machiavelli on how to further my last point. .".. and he who overcomes his enemies by stratagem, is as much to be praised as he who overcomes them by force". -Machiavelli, The Prince One can overcome his enemy (curfew) by basic strategy. Work hard and stay tough. Present your ideas in a civilized way, and in the end one may never win, but he will gain other great rewards.
This also means giving in sometimes, and just accepting the facts. Whether or not I have won in my desperate attempts to persuade, you the reader can make an honest and moral decision on the subject.
