Event: brief description of what happened. One of the young people I work with, who for the sake of this report will be called laura, has gone through many hard home issues and has recently come through to faith. She was apart of a youth cell for 2 years and yet through through that time really never took the christian faith to a deep level. She has come to a point of real faith and has opened up and starting staring her hurts about family life.
2. Youth work reflection: youth work significance and your role as a youth worker. I noticed a few months ago while she was in cell that she always kept very quite and never really participated in the group. When speaking on a one to one basic with her it was a total different story.
She become open and honest and this one something I built on over the recent months. I asked her how she would feel about having one to one sessions with me on a weekly basis. In these session I used it as a chance to encourage and share. We talk about different verses in the bible that have encouraged us that week. This worked well as it gave a chance for me to share about my week as well as her share about hers. It aslo enabled her to hear and share about bible passes can can help us in out practice lives.
I have noticed how in the last few months she has become more confident in talking in a larger group setting and is more open about difficult life situations that she faces in her week. 3. Theological reflection: theological significance and ministry implications. The bible has so much to offer to our lives. I believe it is a valuable book that can help instruct us in how we live out our daily lives and also in how we live out our faith in dynamic ways.
We can see that in the life of jesus he gave his time to people individually, we see this in: ... We also know that christianity is more than just carrying about someones spiritual needs but also there practice needs. This is very much what I tried to do with this young girl. 4.
Learning: bulleted learning / action points. This has tought me that one to ones are very important when trying to help individuals grow in confidence when talking to people. I plan to keep this weekly meeting with this young person and intend to extend this invitation to some other young people that I feel it would be of good benefit too. 5. Competencies: related to National occupational standards for youth work in the UK.
