On September 11, 2001 one of America's worst attacks occurred. The Taliban designed and executed a plan that destroyed the lives of many people in New York and many other states. The Taliban cold heartedly high- jacked a commercial airplane and flew it into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. These attacks left many children fatherless, wives turned into widows, parents loss children, and other members lost significant pieces of their families. The sad thing about the entire situation is that there were things that led up to this.

Bio terrorism, which is the deliberate creation and exploitation of fear for bringing about political change, had been shown in full affect before the tragedy that occurred on 9-11. The bio terrorism that the United States prevented before the attacks were the links that government missed to help in the prevention of this dreadful disaster. Anthrax and Small Pox are two bio terrorist attacks that have been used on the United States prior to the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Anthrax is a biological weapon that was used against the United States. Anthrax is a spore-forming bacterium that is normally seen in plants and animals not often in humans.

Through several letters containing potent anthrax spores were mailed to the offices of prominent media figures and politicians. Five people died of inhalation anthrax, apparently after being exposed to the spores. The rash of anthrax cases sparked fears that terrorists were carrying out a biological attack, but no one expected the happenings on 9-11. Small pox is an acute viral disease a highly contagious disease caused by a pox virus and marked by high fever and the formation of scar-producing pustules. A worldwide inoculation program has virtually eradicated the smallpox virus from the human population.

A virus causes smallpox. An infected person spreads virus particles into the air in the form of tiny droplets emitted from the mouth by speaking, coughing, or simply breathing. The virus can then infect anyone who inhales the droplets. By this means, smallpox can spread extremely rapidly from person to person. Like anthrax the occurrence of small pox was not expected but was a factor in what happened on 9-11.

In my opinion, terrorism is the worst thing that America could have expected. No one expected that another country could have so much hate for another that they would send deadly diseases here and then what makes matter worst is that they would then have the audacity to destroy lives both the living and the dead as well as destroying buildings that were vital in our society. What occurred on September 11 was tragic but could have possibly been prevented if signs that bio terrorism brought would have been followed.
