"He is going to win the United States Amateur in 2007". In order for me to play golf at this optimum level, I must focus on having a strong physical, mental, and emotional approach to the game. To me, that means an all around well fundamentally balanced game. That reflects to me because golf is my desire and it is what I love to play.

I take this sport very critically and try to play at the stage I am capable of. The first fundamental is the physical characteristic. I try to be in precise shape to play the sport. For example, if I could not walk the course without getting exhausted, then I probably would not play. What I do to stay in well enough shape to play is work out a few times a week and run as much as I possibly can. After I achieve this, then I concentrate on scoring well on the course.

For me to accomplish this, I must put a lot of practice and time to my game. Finally, if I practice all these aspects of the physical characteristic, then it will all pay up to the next two fundamentals. The second fundamental is the mental characteristic. While on the course, I try to keep my thoughts about strictly my golf game only. When I start to think about anything different then it tends to make my physical characteristic fail.

The mental part of my game does affect the physical side. As I have learned by playing a lot of golf is that every fundamental is very important to one another. Golf teachers and coaches tell me to focus on each one as if they are different sports. That is how in detail each fundamental really is and how vital they are and should be to every serious golfer. Therefore, I study all aspects of the game. The third and last fundamental is the emotional characteristic.

What do a lot of golfers say to each other when they get frustrated with their game? They say, "It is just a game". To me, that means exactly what it says. When I play golf, I try to have fun and not get upset with myself. The truth is that no one is perfect and no one can be perfect. If I hit a bad shot, then I just control my emotions and try my hardest to birdie the next hole.

In conclusion, golf for me is not very hard if I focus and put my mind to the sport. When I follow these steps I start to have a more fundamentally balanced game. All the attributes of my physical, mental, and emotional game have gotten better through lots of time and practice. Also I have started to shoot lower scores and achieve what I am capable of. Maybe one day I will win the United States Amateur and go pro. My name is Eric Sheer in and this is how I play golf.
