My Parents example essay topic
I would fall asleep when we were driving, so my parents would take the longest route everywhere just to give me a nap. When I got older, they sacrificed watching the news or their favorite TV show just to read me a story at bedtime. For most couples starting out, money was kind of tight. However, on every holiday or birthday or special occasion I was showered with all the toys and clothes that I wanted or could imagine.
Even with our rooms, they would make sure that my room would be finished and decorated with the necessities before theirs. They could have gone on a really nice vacation. Instead, they spent the money on braces for me so that I would have a nicer smile. My Mom wouldn't even go into a store to look for something for herself because she knew she couldn't afford it. My Dad is always tired when he comes home from work. But he always finds time to help me with my homework.
During my 6th grade science class, we were required to come up with a new invention. Since I was not really keen on how to work power tools, my dad took the time to build this project for me. He didn't look at it as a sacrifice or a chore. He was just bursting with pride to see me succeed and told everyone about the wonderful playhouse I built. (Sorry about those fingertips you lost, Dad.) And as to freedom, what parent doesn't give up just about everything for their kids.
No more late nights out, no more fancy dinners, no more fine china and crystal around the house. Instead you have child locks, baby gates, and toys all around the house. Things don't really get any easier as the kids grow up. Instead of worrying about diapers and formula, you start worrying about what kind of friends they " re hanging out with and who are those boys anyway? Trust really became a big issue as I grew up. They don't always let me do what I want to do.
Pride is a two-way street. They say they are so proud of me, but I am proud of them. They have taught me how to think of others before worrying about myself. They showed me how just spending a little time can make all the difference in the world. They taught me to "give it the gusto" to do my best.
They laughed with me and at me. They comforted my fears and dried my tears. Some people have superstars for heroes. I have my parents.
