My Pulse Rate example essay topic

342 words
Each year many individuals invest enormous amounts of money as well as countless hours of training in hopes of improving their health, looks or athletic skills. Parents enroll small children in organized sports programs such as gymnastics, soccer, and t-ball hoping that the child will get a head start. My graph shows me that my investigation went well as the shape tells me that I have reached my plateau, which is what was expected. The factor I chose made my pulse rate go up as I was exercising because the cells were respiring and needed more oxygen to produce energy for my muscles to work. The graph shape is like that of my predicted one because my pulse rate went up rapidly and then reached its final target, my results also show this. I reached 174 beats per minute quite quickly and as I did the rest of my exercises it stayed at 174.

Have you found that exercise can almost always improve your mood? As a teenager and young adult I noticed that riding my bike or rollerblading that always made me feel better when I was down. I distinctly remember being frustrated and stressed, going out to rollerblade on a tennis court on a 20-degree February night, and feeling fantastic. Today, my mood lifter could be just about any type of exercise: riding my bike, exercising at the gym, jumping rope out on the patio, working in the yard. No matter how down or discontented I feel, exercising turns my mood around completely.

From my results I can see that as I increased the exercising time, my pulse rate went up and so did the time that it took me to get back down to my normal pulse rate. My pulse rate went up to repay the oxygen debt. If my pulse rate had not gone up this would have showed me that my muscles were not working on oxygen but they were producing lactic acid instead.
